Arts, Culture & History
Cook County is home to a vibrant local arts scene and an incredible array of art and artists. Potters, painters, photographers, fiber artists, mosaicists, fused glass specialists, sculptors, basket weavers, woodcrafters, folklorists, storytellers, poets, paper makers, bookmakers, actors, singers, songwriters, musicians…the list is endless.
Cook County is also home to culinary artists, bringing us their best in foods grown locally on the land and in the water, traditional favorites and fresh new recipes. We’re also home to two new breweries and a winery. Dining options range from picnic fare, to cafes, to fine dining.
Cook County's Arts and Culture are a key prosperity driver contributing to the social and economic vitality of Cook County. The EDA is providing administrative support to developing our Arts and Culture economy.
We honor and remember the people who came before us. Learn the stories of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, the voyageurs, the commercial fishing families, the loggers, the original resort owners and others who have been attracted to this special place and made their lives here.
